WELCOME

We are thrilled you are considering continuing your yoga studentship with us!

This 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training adheres to the Yoga Alliance training standards and offers you a thorough understanding how honouring and uplifting the roots of yoga, through embodying Patanjali's eight limb path, can support community care. Together we will explore how trauma-informed care can empower you, and those you support, both on and off of the mat.

This teacher training is open to anyone who has previously completed a 200-Hour YTT and will support you deepening your studentship from an anti-oppressive, accessible, trauma-informed lens.

We will meet live, via Zoom, for 13 Friday workshops & 5 weekend workshop-style modules to complete your contact hours. You will also complete two self-paced courses and required home study readings, at your own pace. Each live workshop is designed to resemble a retreat-like format. Togehter we will co-create an environment to support learning, and most importantly, unlearning, in community.

From a nurturing attachment-based approach, you will be invited to experience all practices and teachings for yourself, with the intention of empowering you as a helping professional and yoga teacher. With trauma being a sensitive topic, each student is required to complete an application for enrollment with special attention on how you will support yourself, mind-body-spirit-heart, throughout the training.

TESTIMONIALS

Kathleen "This yoga school completely embodies the 8 limbs of yoga and as a result, the students learn how to take these ancient teachings and apply them in their lives in a way that does not culturally appropriate. The focus on mind, body, spirit and heart honours each individual’s life journey. I would highly recommend this training to anyone who would like a deeper understanding of the teachings, beliefs and medicine of yoga and how this is integral in health and well-being"
Anissa  "The Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School's teacher training was a magically authentic experience... This training helped me not only find connection to an amazing yoga community, but also to myself. The teachers reignited my love of yoga and psychology and created a sense of confidence within me as I move forward within both these fields. I cannot recommend this training enough for anyone who is looking for inspiration and a community!"
Janine  "Choose yourself & do it! You could never regret this experience. I have learned so much professionally, but what really caught me off guard was how much I've learned about myself personally from this experience! This training is not just for those wanting to teach. Everyone can benefit from this training---you will grow in a multitude of ways. It truly will transform you, and you will be so grateful for the knowledge and growth!"
Randi  “I overall truly appreciated the ability to learn and share from my lived experience as an Indigenous learner/practitioner. I was able to feel at ease and find space to explore and release what was not serving the highest and best version of myself. I intend to bring this forward while integrating a two-eyed seeing approach to my teaching. Thank you for this experience and I look forward to reconnecting and for continued learning."

MEET YOUR FACULTY

Dr. Melissa Jay

Tân'si, Hello!

Be who you needed when you were younger. This message guides me.
As an Indigenous, Nehiyaw member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, it is a joy to walk alongside incredible souls who are dedicated to self-awareness & community care. I honour my ᓀᐦᐃᔭᐍ Nehiyawe (Cree) culture, by sitting with Elders/Knowledge Keepers, and decolonizing myself by infusing spirit into everything.

As a psychologist & assistant professor, it is a privilege to decolonize community care and at the Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School it is a joy to collaborate alongside my inspiring friends who are faculty! Please click on their photos, below, to read their bios!

We cannot wait to learn and, most importantly, unlearn, with you!

is an Indigenous, Nehiyaw-Métis member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Canmore Counselling is located Chuwapchipchiyân Kudi Bi (translated from Îyârhe Nakoda as “shooting at the willows”), colonially known as Canmore. We are located the beautiful Rocky Mountains which is considered Treaty 7 land, the traditional territory of the Îyârhe Nakoda, including the Bearspaw, Chiniki, and Wesley First Nations, as well as the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Blackfoot Confederacy, including the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai First Nations, and home of Métis Nation of Alberta, Region III. As an act of reconciliation and decolonization, may we work together to answer the TRC's Calls to Action: Truth & Reconciliation Commission Reports and Findings.

At Canmore Counselling we are also priveleged to be yoga students, practitoners, and guides. Our offerings are dedicated to honouring the root of yoga and learning from and amplifying the voices of South Asian practitioners and teachers whenever possible. We are grateful for the eight limbs of yoga, as taught by Patanjali. It is a joy to walk alongside our incredible alumni of the Trauma-Informed Yoga Psychology School as they create opportunities for care, connection & curiosity within their communities.
